The story of Mathilde M
The wonderful story of Mathilde M. began in 2002, drawing inspiration from the refinement and elegance of the 18th century. Since then, the brand has brought charm and poetry to homes with a timeless, classic-chic style.
Inspired by the heritage of France’s beautiful châteaux and stately homes, Mathilde M. reimagines tradition, bringing together exceptional craftsmanship and creativity.
Every piece is imagined and designed by the Mathilde M Creative Studio to bring softness and romance into the home while celebrating the French art of living.
The brand’s expertise in perfumery and its creativity shine through in its creations. Twice a year, its creative studio dreams up new collections inspired by the 18th century and interior design trends.
Mathilde M’s team of designers creates every collection with enthusiasm and passion. The collections are developed at its offices in Mâcon, Burgundy.

Every new piece is imagined and created from a hand-drawn sketch and exclusive designs that make our creations unique.
Emblems of the Mathilde M. brand, the scented plaster decorations are all meticulously made in its workshops and carved by hand to create high-quality pieces.
Fully infused with fragrance, they release their gentle scent for a long time wherever they are placed. An original, authentic way to scent small spaces in your home, such as closets, drawers or luggage.
At the heart of creation
Go behind the scenes of these delicately scented pieces, handcrafted by our ornamental sculptor, Justine. The creative journey begins with an inspiration, an idea, a sketched drawing… that slowly comes to life in her hands… She first shapes a rough form from a soft, malleable material. It is then molded and cast in plaster, after which she reworks, sculpts and refines it down to the smallest detail, sanding it until the surface is perfectly smooth.
From this model, she makes a mold. The piece is then duplicated to create the master mold used for production in our workshops. The decorative pieces are then ready to be scented, fully infused with our delicate fragrances. Pearls, ribbons and other ornaments are added by hand as a final touch of refinement.
Here are a few tips to preserve the appearance and scent of your scented plaster pieces:
- Keep them away from moisture, which could damage them.
- Do not place them near strong heat sources, such as a radiator or fireplace.
- Gently clean them with a dry cloth to avoid damaging the plaster or altering the scent.
Scented plaster pieces are fragile and should be handled with care.
Their scent may fade over time. To refresh it, you can spray the fragrance concentrate matching your chosen scent directly onto the plaster.
The art of fragrance
For 20 years, Mathilde M has created scents that fill homes with refined notes. Complex and high-quality, our fragrances are developed by master perfumers from Grasse and across Europe.
Created like personal perfumes, they combine a carefully crafted blend of many notes. There are floral fragrances such as rose élixir and sublime jasmin, woody-oriental fragrances with hints of vanilla, gentle fragrances featuring musk or bergamot, and fruity fragrances such as fleur de mandarine and figuier dolce.
Each unique Mathilde M fragrance tells a wonderful story. Its carefully crafted notes linger, taking the senses on a journey.
